Feel the Pain

The downside with have everything packed though is that it's hard to make a decent meal... It felt both funny and a little embarrasing to fix this nice dinner the day before the move.

Gormet dinner!

Well, the movers were done just after Lunch, then me and Peter had the joy of dragging the things that wasn't moving down the stairs and pack them into the car and take them to the garbage station. The bedmattresses, the old vinyl shelf, a rug, cardboard boxes and other things too large to place in the dumpster downstairs. I was working to fill those quite hard the day prior to the move. Damn I had a lot of trash!
I can't say I felt good this day, even if I was excited to be going. The pain in my body was terrible. A mixture between muscle pain from workouts, really bruised and cramp in all my limbs. I really didn't have any energy left to lift anything what so ever. I don't think I've ever felt anything like it, never been that worked out, exhausted ever. It took a few days for the pain to go away.
We were done with the rest about 3pm and decided it was best to take a drive in at MAX and go home to have a last meal in the old flat. Another nice one, sitting on the bed linnen in the middle of the room eating burgers with nothing but dustrats to watch. Classy!!!
I really thought it would feel harder to give up the place but I didn' feel much at all taking the last tour around the flat. It felt harder to take everthing from the rehearseroom... That was a little strange since I haven't spent much time there the last couple of years.

After Lunch/Dinner we packed the car with some stuff and headed south. I started driving and Peter sat nice and calm on the passange seat. It wasn't much traffic at all so everything went really smooth. A quick stop for toilet, coffee and Ice Cream in Örebro and then off again, now with Peter behind the wheel.

Coffeebreak in Örebro

Food art

I can't say I was as patient as Peter, Örebro is about half way but just sitting watching the road... I got restless in no time. I amuzed myself with chewing on my Calippo, Peter really hates when people chew on ice! Then of course, taking photos of the landscapes outside the car...

Peter getting passed by a Volvo

I still got bored though!

Trees

It really isn't that much fun to take pitures with a mobile camera!

Crazy clouds on the freeway

Especially when it gets darker. There was an amazing pink, purple and steel blue sunset just before we turned into road 42 in Vårgårda, unfortunetely it's impossible to catch that with my mobile camera.

Sunset over Vårgåda

We arrived in Borås just after 10pm. It wasn't time for much at all, neither me nor Peter had energy enough to even connect the TV. Just laid out the camping gear since the new beds we ordered didn't arrive in time for me to pick them up before the moving day. It felt really terrible to not have real beds to sleep in after all the hard work. Luckily we could pick them up at Jysk the mornig after.
It took the movers about 3 hours to get everything in to the new flat, everything was sorted according to the labels on the boxes. Feels good to have a logistic mind sometimes. It was really easy to start unpacking the right boxes becaus of the numbers and the packing list! (yeah, I'm a freak, I know) But it wouldn't have been fun to go through all the 60 moving boxes and the 70 others to find the most important things.
A quick turn to IKEA to get some new shelves and than House Warming Party Nr 1. Uffe and Stefan came over and helped building the Billy's and Expedit's. I was still soar so I took care of the dinner. A good deal I think!!!
The result looks mighty I think! It's two PCs 185cm's shelfs.... Still room for MORE LP's!

Vinyl mania

Then I've spent time to update the Recordlist again! No the 7"'s and the CD's are in there as well! Fully updated besides the last packages I've ordered! More on that later....

At this point record Nr 666 is Corrosion Of Conformity - Blind, that one didn't get as stuck on me as the ones released after that, Deliverance and Wiseblood, still this is a really cult album and most anyone in my generation, that listens to heavy music likes it.

COC - Blind

And record 1000 is a real favorite, Dismember - Like An Ever Flowing Sream. Damn I've listened a lot to this one. Sort of teenage idols! We drove around the country to see them play and it was one of the greatest moments when they were booked to Musikhuset in Gävle to play. There were really cool gigs in that area around the time. The Back Bite Bulk people still talks about but then there were the ones at Folketshus in Gävle, Cafe Q, Lättings... All Old School Swedish Death Metal bands have played here... A few foreign ones too! Vader, Disharmonic Orchestra...

Dismember - Like An Ever Flowing Stream

And record Nr 1666, Iron Maiden - Live After Death... Nothing needs to be said about that one... I remember a cold winter night in the middle of the 80's though, a friend had the VHS of this concert and we watched it at her place, I think that was one of my first encounters with Maiden and I thought it was so cool and SO GOOD! (the thing though, how could you like them, none were really good looking!!! What can I say? Teenage girls)

Iron Maiden - Live After Death

So the vinyls are up, next is the CD's. They won't look as cool as the LP's but I think it will look quite mighty too!

Cheers

Black Vinyl is the shit!

First week in Borås went smooth! Ok, going by bike to work, about 6,5km up and downhill was quite hard but at the end of the week most of the road felt ok at least.
This weekend is dedicated to set the vinyls up, of course mine came with the moving truck and Peter took his with him coming to Borås after working the week in Malmö...
First task for me was to update my list, I haven't really kept that one updated the last couple of months... Said and done, all the LP's are in there now and after that, this good piece of music ended up at line 666...

Greatest coverart ever, right?

Coven - Blessed Is The Black was on sale at Åhlens in Sandviken ages ago... I think I picked out everything looking like Metal. It was probably something like, 20SEK each, 10 for 100. So this was one of that batch. Titles as McDonaldland Massacre and Iron Dick didn't really convince me this would be a favorite in my collection but then there are songs as Another Life and Out Of The Grave that are amazing really... So it was absolutely worth the money!
After updating the list all the sorting started, new ones, the ones never put into the shelves and of course the ones messed up during the move. Pretty soon we realized Peter has the opening up on the plastic cover and me to right... My way is the right of course but Peter won and for that he got to change all my plastic covers so they too have the opening up too!

Peter dealing with his price...

There sure will be a lot of music in this flat and I'm sure the Vinyl shelf will look very mighty when it's done. It won't be the easiest thing to get it in order though. At least both of us has sorted the records the same way, it still will be a lot of work to piece together my ten crates with Peter's ten...

About 20 crates of vinyl

Well, the sorting is pretty much done, now all that's left is to get the LP's out of the crates and in to the big shelves... I guess that will be a task for tomorrow, or we need to drink some beer asap to get new inspiration.

And this is where all of it is going

The good thing with working in the living room is the access to the stereo. Even if it's fun to watch the big TV there's nothing as good as working with good music in the speakers. And the last few weeks has provided two amazing records. First of course, Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier. Perhaps a little hard to get into but it sounds very promising. Then mighty Accept with Blood Of The Nations... Great really, from start to end!

I doubt the vinyls will be up tonight! Not too bad though to hang out in the living room (especially now when we have a livingroom that's not also the bedroom, closet, storage etc) and listen to music one more day!!!
Cheers
E

Rainmaker

Well, this first one has nothing to do with anything in this blog but Mio looked so comfortable and cute at this one I couldn't resist exposing this little kitty. He's actually my parents neighbours cat but since my parents has been feeding him when they're away for years now he lives a little where he feels which is mainly at my parets house. He's a really sleepy cat that loves to brushed and scratched. He's about 17 years old now so he really deserves being spoilt.

It's so nice to get scrarched

Friday afternoon the sun was shining in Gävle and I walked towards the station in a very good mood. Couldn't for the world imagine what was to come the next day at the Sonisphere Festival. I was a little disappointed that my request for a photopass was declined but now afterwards it was the best, would have been horrible to try to hide the camera from the rain...
But Gävle was sunny and i felt very good to get out of work and go away from the packing and carrying boxes!

A sunny day at the station in Gävle

Peter joined me i Stockholm a few hours later. I made it to the hotel to check in first before I met up with him at the station. We decided to skip the Sonisphere Pre-party in Kungsträdgården and headed off to Södermalm instead. Bröderna Olsson's Garlic & Shots was our first choice for dinner and luckily we got a table. I told Peter about the Garlic Beer and Garlic Shots introducing him to the place and of course he had to try the beer. If you look closely at the picture there's some stuff flating around in the beer, yep, that's chopped garlic!

Happy Peter with a Garlic Beer

None of us could resist the Garlic Burger and damn, that one was HUGE and very Garlicy... *s* But it tasted nice and the place was cool so if I get the chance I would really like to go back there and try something else. Just when we were finished with dinner our waiter told us they had to close the outside, we decided to go somewhere else instead of trying to fit in the already full Bröderna Olsson's place. Kelly's it was but that sucked so we decided to leave quite soon and took a walk around Södermalm and rested at Medborgarplatsen for a while before we decided to go to the hotel.

BIG Garlic Burgers

Saturday started of very nice, quite warm and cloudy, NICE! We made it to Stora Skuggan and got to wait in line for a litle while before it started to rain. Ok, just a few splashes at that time and it still felt really good.

Charged!

The line in to the Festival was extreme and I never thought I would make it inside before Warroir Soul was finished. I think we only missed 1 or 2 songs though, since the festival decided to open 20 more entrances, ok we didn't get to keep our tickets but what difference does that make, I stillhave the pdf and can print another one if I want.

Warrior Soul did great but they're better on a small stage. They should be in a filthy and sweaty environment.
Anthrax was up next on our schedule, the sound was terrible to start with but when that was solved it turned out great. Joey Belladonna was best though, he still has a great voice and he was very much the entire show.

Joey didn't fuck up, that's for sure!

Then Slayer and now it really started to rain, we didn't have any rainclothes and to pay 100SEK for a shitty plastic bag, no way. Then I rathe stay wet! Slayer was also really good, very cool set, sure a best of but what the hell can you expect for a festival. Aggressive Perfector mixed in to Raning Blood was the coolest though.

Alice Cooper put on a great show but at this point I was almost ready to give up. Freezing cold and soaking wet but that's not Rock'N'Roll. Both me and Peter decided by the end of the show that we HAD to do the best of the situation.

Snail in the loo

I can tell you it wasn't easy to go to the toilet waring tight soaking wet jeans. After a few rounds my fly gave up. On the other hand, wet weather brings out cool creatures. This one held me comany at one of the toilets.
We did try to go and see Mötley Crüe but the area was either too crowded or too wet so we decided to go back to the bar and try to get a little warmer before Iron Maiden started playing

Shower? Nope, Sonisphere!

The really sick thing is that the rain actually stopped just a little before Maiden were scheduled to start playing. I'm so glad we didn't leave early, that we stayed the entire evening to see Maiden. Bruce sounded better than ever and when you get as charged as we did it's clear that Maiden is the best live band ever.

Dance Of Death

The new tunes sounded great and it's really cool that they still play songs from the last couple of albums. Still there's always songs missing... Guess it would be like that even if they played for 5-6 hours.
Going homeward the sky opened up completely. I was almost dry when Maiden finished, I was anything BUT dry entering the Metro. It was a huge puddle of water around my feet in the Metro going the few stations to the Main Station. But we got home quite easliy at least and it was really nice with a hot shower after the rain.

It wasn't at all as nice the next day to try and squeeze in to the wet and broken jeans again, or the shoes for that matter.
I forced Peter to go clothes shopping in Stockholm, he was thrilled!!! *hehe* I found some cheap jeans and a denim jacket on sale, great! I needed a new one but did't want to pay 1000-1200 SEK for a good one. Now, 200 for the jacket and 200 for the jeans! Super! Sko Uno was closed so no new dry shoes though.

After the clothes shopping Nina joined in with us and we decided it was time for lunch. It was nice to see her again and talk a little about everyting. A Burger later, which wasn't even close in neither size nor taste compared to Bröderna Olsson later we went for coffee and a tour of Stockholm City Center. We found a cheap record dealer at Hötorget and of course I found a bunch of things I wanted!

Nina and Peter enjoying shopping

It was really cheap too so why think twice? The best thing was that all of it was stuff I've been thinking of buying for a while. 3 DVD's and 3 CD's...

Catch of the day

Then it was time to junp on the train back to Gävle again and continue packing... The days after Sonisphere were horrible really. Luckily I could take the afternoons off from work, else I wouldn't have been finished at all. Monday = Leave the car at my car-contact to have it checked before I move, back to Gävle to pack, 30 times up and down the stairs with scrap and garbage, Tuesday = Clear out the attic, took 5 hours carrying around moving boxes with varoius heavy stuff in as books, magazines and so in. Then back to packing the flat. Wednesday = Sandviken to leave the stuff there to the moving company, the couch, boxes and one round at the attic, then back home for Erikshälpen who agreed to pick up my furnitures on a very short notice. Then back to Sandviken to get a ride to pick up my fixed car, then back home again to continue packing.

I picked Peter up at the station right after 9pm, then out to the rehearse room to pick up the Marshall-amp, Peavy-head and Fender speakers. Down with that to the basement. Then Peter was nice enough to pack my LP's, at that time I could hardly move. My whole body was aching, somewhere between musclepain, being beaten up and cramp.

We gave up at 1 am since the moving company was showing up at 8 am already the next day...

I'm so glad the move is done now!

Cheers E

Der Garten Brennt...

"Make This Garden Burn" Wretch sang on my first visit to Headbangers Open Air. Wouldn' want that to happen but the garden was boiling this year as well... More about that later!

Another week of packing was to end and I jumped in my well filled car and drove south. The plan was to move things with no value that are boring and hard to pack since the insurance didn't kick in until August 1:st. Said and done, Sunday afternoon I and about a million people hit the roads. I must admit it's not the greatest time of the year to drive now, all caravans and people going home from their vacations really blocks the road.
So it took extremely muc time to go from Gävle to Borås this day. I tried to stop at MAX in Örebro but the queue went outside the doors. Burger King in Laxå was a bit better but the service was awful. I think my clerk went on a coffee break after each customer. I waited about 40 minutes for a lousy burger and I just had three people before me when I got there... Really shitty place. Then I drove 200m and saw the cutest Pizza place and it was completely empty. I must remember that for next time.

Our new street in Borås

But it felt really good when I finally turned the last right turn into Utgårdsgatan and could unload my stuff in the flat. Everythig went since Peter was joining in the next day and we went bedshopping. Unfortunately the ones we wanted was out of stock so in worst case we have to sleep on the camping gear the first night in the flat. That will be ok, at least there's a TV there now. Yep, managed to shop for TV's (one for the livingroom and one for the bedroom), Blu-ray player, microvawe (which bot Uffe and Stefan thought were too expensive but it looked cool) and a little more.
This was Peter's first visit to Borås and he found a friend right away! *s*

The toilet needy rabbit & Peter

After the shopping spree we drove south for Malmö to get Peter's camping gear and his preparation for Headbangers Open Air. Marinated meat, sausages and a little more to go with the BBQ I bought. Damn we dominated the food in our camp when it came to food.

Peter (and my hand) with the HOA Beers

Headbangers Open Air was nice as usual. Nices Festival, or perhap I should say Garden Party in the world. Always great bands and really cool people to hange with! The beer was cold and weather hot, that makes it even better!

The oh so nice BBQ

We placed our camp right next to the rest of our gang, built a double party tent and geared up for dinner. The others looked a little surprised when we built the BBQ and started it up, they had just eaten a pack of cold hot dogs!
Three days of Metal, and one day for th pre-party passed by very quickly because it was three really good days! Shok Paris won it all... (Or as Rickard from Sweden out it, It's nice that Shockarna plays at HOA) Anvil Chorus, Raven, Jameson Raid, Demon, Amulance, Omen and a few more did great too.

Our HOA Camp with the BBQ

We all were a little disappointed though that we didn't get the Metal Tickets this year. Yes, the first 500 get a printed Metal Plate as a ticket so the plan now was to get tickets for next year as soon as possible. No problems, all of us got the cool ones and I bought for Uffe and Daniel who will join teh party next year. Awesome!

Somewhere between Varberg and Borås

Then it was time to go back to work! Monday morning was spent driving from Malmö to Borås. It was ok, went a lot smoother than southbound but it's still boring to drive alone for a few hours. Ok, the CD's I picked up at HOA helped a little though, the new Brutal Hand album is great by the way...

Volvo P1800, station wagon

In Borås it was the ususal party at the main square at Tuesday. They park a lot of old cars there then and the freaks can enjoy them selves watching old nice cars. Me included there.... There's something special about old Volvo's I think! What other brand builds their sports car as a station wagon?
I must admit I feel a little nostalic around old Volvo's!

An old Volvo 164, really nice

Then it was time to return to Gävle for more packing! I also placed a lot of adds on Blocket and especially my Kitchen Sofa got a lot of attention. That was sold about an hour after I placed the add at Blocket. Still nothing on the linnen closet, bookshelf and the rest of the furnitures though.
Before I left Borås we checked the status on the road. A truck had dropped it's trailer right over E20 in Hova... 4 hours later when I passed there the road was still blocked and we had to drive through Statoil to get by. I ha to wait about 25 minutes, the line going south was very long, 20km or so, even if it's borin to wait I felt a little lucky when I saw the other line.

Complete stop in Hova

Then everything went really smooth, a quick stop at MAX in Örebro, which this time was basically empty, I contunied towards Gävle. Even if the roads are empty it's still boring to drive this far. It is 500km between Gävle and Borås, the short way.

Somewhere south of Örebro

I did the best to amuse myself... Tried the cloudspotting even if I don't have an iPhone... went pretty well, clear blue sky behind them at least.

Between Gysinge and Hedesunda, almost home in Gävle

Back in Gävle it was just to stat packing again, another 11 boxes was done yesterday and it actually is pretty empty everywhere now. Still have the attic though and that will take time. In the flat there's some in the kitchen, the LP's, bathroom, computer and stereo left. But at least the latter three I need until I move! Still I know there's more to do before I'm done than I think... Next week will be hectic, that's for sure! But first it's time for some more fun!
