Recordshoppers Anonymous #6

Well, I keep reeating myself that the days at work are crazy and I didn't think it could be more to do than it was last week but I was wrong. I keep on running on meetings all day and then I'm supposed do some real work as well. I doesn't work that well! But ok... I'm scheduling two quite interesting workshops at least so there are a lot of interesting things going on as well. But it shure would be nice to be able to finish something sometimes too.

So to keep my mood up I've been shopping some records again!!! Coludn't resist when Nevermore  "Dreaming Neon Black" was listed! Then of course it gets too expensive to just order one LP when it comes to shipping. So I took the opportunity to get Striker, another Merciless Death, Dio and Quicksand Dream. And then Saxon "Live to Rock" 7", Convixion. The special edition for Iced Earth "Dystopia" also was a must. It sounds really good but I need to listen more before I judge for real.

And it's not only work that has been busy. We've been rehearsing a lot lately, first and foremost to get ready for Malta Doom Metal Festival but of course to keep things up with Cult Of The Fox too! Unfortunately the gig planned for Tilburg won't happen since Grand Magus and that really cool tourpackage should play there at the same day. But it all turned out nice and we confirmed a date in Eindhoven instead. So now we have Eindhoven Jan 13 and Lille Jan 14, still looking for more gigs though.

But it will be awesome to go back to Malta again. I heave the weather gadget on my computer and looking out to a mixture of +2 hailstones and heavy rain that gadet that says sun and +24 feels like a joke. Can't even imagine someone still has summer. I'm really looking forward to explore more of the island(s) too. Now we have time for the harbor cruise, we are going to go to the old temples, Medina, Rabat and more... Eat swordfish, feed the cats (even if they're strange and don't like ham), sit on the rocks with my feet in the ocean, drink colourful drinks and just ejoy! I need that now.

And then of course the Festival. I especially look forward to see Victims Of Creation again. They kicked ass last year. But the line up is really strong! Pagan Altar, Mirror Of Deception, Nomad Son, Forsaken and of course Void Moon and a few more. So it will be another great weekend in the Woods for Malta Doom Metal Festival.

Vicious Rumors Picture Galore

A while ago we went on a roadtrip to see a few Vicious Rumors concerts. At least I had to make up for only catching one more than Keep It True on the last let. My trip started in Essen at the Turock. I really like that venue and this night the camera loved the lights and Vicious Rumors. It sure was an amazing set played too. 24 for songs all in all, only 16 listed on the setlist. Noone can complain about not getting their money's worth seeing Vicious Rumors at least. Killer show as usual and I had a blast!

VICIOUS RUMORS live @ Turock, ESSEN, Germany

The second stop was at the Baroeg in Rotterdam. This city is one of very few places I've actually been scared being out on the streets at night. But ok, that was in the downtown area around the central station. But what the lady in the reception of the hotel at that visit referred to as the Bad and Good nighbourhood I certainly don't agree on. Don't remember the name of the venue I visited that time but apparently that was in the bad part of the town and the hotel in the good. Yeah right! Prostitution and drug dealing in every corner while only night open grocerystores around the venue. The area around baroeg was really calm though!
Again Vicious Rumors put on a great show. I must admit I wonder when they will flip over and actually not top the last time I saw them... Both these shows, in Essen and Rotterdam was fantastic and the best I've seen this far. The same sentence I've been repeating after each Vicious Rumors tour for years now...

There are more pictures available on the Metal Kaoz page, also check out the review!

Vicious Rumors also announced they'll be joining Hammerfall on their entire European Tour in November and December. That's very cool and I really want to see at least one of these shows, Ljubljana in Slovenia. It's actually VERY annoying to not be home in Sweden when Vicious Rumors actually makes it here... But at least I get to play Rockstar at that time to since we are playing with Void Moon at the Malta Doom Metal Festival. Shit happens, but on the other hand, I've always wanted to see more of the eastern parts of Europe. Still it's rather strange to plan to go and see Hammerfall and I'm sure about that Vicious Rumors will rule over them. Hammerfall won't stand a chance.

Cheers

Martyr - Circle of 8

It's always nice when great bands release new material. Martyr has become one of my favorite Live bands. They always do something hysteric on stage and are amazingly fun to watch. Then, that they have and still are producing good music is of course a very valid reason why I like them too! Martyr release their new album "Circle Of 8" through Metal Blade Records on November 4 in Europe and Novemeber 8 in the US. Old School Dutch Metal sure still holds today!

It sure had been great to be able to go to the release party, but since it clashes with the Malta Doom Metal Festial that won't happen. It's kind of a shame it's not possible to do everything I want. I do a lot but being in two places at the same time, not even I manage! :O)

Live really is where Martyr comes to life. And with the new album they sure seem to have found a lot of new energy and inspiration. So they're absolutely worth checking out, both live and on record that is! The video says a bit and more about the same can be found at Metal Kaoz.

Then I took the opportunity to pre-order "Circle Of 8" directly from Metal Blade. The nice thing with getting it directly from them is that Metal Blade have a package with T-shirt and CD for a bargain price. Only the CD in Sweden would cost the same as CD + T-Shirt and postage fee.

NP: CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED - Cold Winds On Timeless Days

Winter came silent

I still really wonder where the summer went? I'm still catching up from the Festivals, and it feels like it was a few weeks back we packed the tent and left the Headbangers Open Air camping ground and headed for the Afterparty in Itzehoe. But last weekend the weather report talked about snow chaos in the north and in the middle of Sweden the temperature was below 0. I'm not ready for winter yet! Don't want winter now already!!!
Last week UDO played @ Trägår'n in Gothenburg and at that time too they warned about traffic chaos. Ok, no snow but heavy rain showers and the weather was quite freaky. The raincloud was so low it almost became completely dark when I drowe in to Gothenburg. Ok. that happens but the edge of the storm never is as sharp as it was. After the edge the sky was blue and sun shining!

The UDO concert was great (as always) but that's another story. The cool thing I have to mention though is that he played a very long set and a lot of UDO songs and a dfferent selection of ACCEPT songs, which I think is really cool. But more about that on Metal Kaoz later.

Last weekend it was really nice weather though. ok, we worked hard with both Void Moon and Cult Of The Fox rehearsals. The Void Moon one dragged over 5 hours so we had barely time to get ready for the Wrestling. Yep, again a very nice event and they really are getting better and better. Can be a nice twist now to as the conspiracy tightens, as Scandinavian Shiva rescued Manimal from his sadistic keeper...

Anyway, Sunday afternoon we had the chance to take a walk in the sun at least. It was such a nice day, really warm. Just these last few summer days! It's so nice to just stroll around and watch the life around.

Then I found something quite cool strolling the airport in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Yep, I've been there once more this year. This time hardly planned and all work. Still it's nice to get out of the office even if it means more work. These small fellas was in the show window of a ridiculously expensive jewelry store.

The strange thing with that airport is that don't have much shopping at all. The stores they have are either crazy expensive or just junky turist last minute buy. No real restaurants, just some sandwich bar or a pub with a snack menu. Not very fancy, but the local beer tasted nice.

This weekend I've spent complaining about my cold! I think the fever is gone now so I suppose I have to drag myself to work tomorrow. Have the day booked to 120% too, that sucks. I think the best thing would have been to work from home tomorrow too. I've been doing that today even if I should have stayed in bed. But at least I don't get another day behind this way. Tomorrow there's just too many meetings and I have no chance to reschedule to later in the week either. It really isn't fun with a schedule this packed even if work feels better now than it has for a while.

Well, back to the Metal Kaoz stuff....
Cheers

Uriah Heep @ Trägår'n - PICTURE GALORE

Uriah Heep played at Trägår'n in Gothenburg a few weeks ago! this was a concert I've been looking forward to a lot. I hold Uriah Heep as one of my favorite bands and they've been amazing every times I've seen them play! Also it was fun to see that the expression "Never too old to Rock" actually is valid!!! Ok, swedes are normally blond but this time it was more in a grey or even white scale of colour.

The pictures turned our rather well too! So here's the rest, the ones that didn't fit into the Kaoz Report!!!!

While we're at the subject Uriah Heep. I finished reading the book about David Byron a while ago too! It was a great book, a very joyful reading indeed. It's just a shame the book is out of print!!!
